Recovering from a motor vehicle crash can feel isolating. Even when friends and family want to help, it is not always easy for them to fully understand the physical, emotional, and mental challenges survivors face. That is why we are proud to introduce Crash Connections which is a new online support group created specifically for individuals navigating life after a motor vehicle crash.
Led With Compassion
Crash Connections is guided by our dedicated Volunteer Crash Connections Coordinator, Jim Woo who leads with empathy, understanding, and lived experience. Jim knows firsthand what recovery can look like and is deeply committed to creating a safe, welcoming space where participants feel heard and respected. He understands that every recovery journey is unique and gently guides discussions to ensure they remain supportive, practical, and compassionate allowing participants to speak openly without fear of judgment.
A Successful Beginning
Our first session, held earlier this month, was a heartwarming success. Participants shared their stories, offered encouragement, and discovered the powerful reminder that they are not alone. Many left feeling uplifted, validated, and eager to continue meeting. The positive response made it clear that this group is needed, and it is here to grow.
Why Crash Connections Matters
We understand that recovery is not one-size-fits-all. It’s personal, layered, and often unpredictable. Every session offers the opportunity to hear firsthand experiences from individuals on their own recovery journeys. Listening and sharing can be incredibly empowering as participants leave feeling understood, motivated, and hopeful. Crash Connections is designed to meet others by offering:
- Connection without barriers: Join from the comfort of your own home. No driving!
- Shared understanding: Connect with others who truly understand the complexities of recovery.
- Practical insight: Learn gentle tools, strategies, and perspectives that support healing and resilience.
- Confidentiality and trust: All conversations are kept strictly confidential, creating space for open and honest sharing.
- Community and encouragement: Build meaningful connections with individuals who care and support one another.
When and How to Join
Crash Connections is free to join and meets virtually on the 3rd Saturday of every month, providing a consistent opportunity for connection and support.
Meeting times:
- EST: 1:00 – 2:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time)
- CST: 12:00 – 1:00 PM (Central Standard Time)
- MST: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time)
- PST: 10:00 – 11:00 AM (Pacific Standard Time)
To ensure meaningful conversation and personal connection, participation is limited to 12 participants per session. Participants may join in whatever way feels safest and most comfortable, whether that means sharing, listening, or remaining quiet. Cameras are optional, and there is no expectation to be on screen during the session. This is a judgment-free space where everyone is respected.
More Than a Support Group
Crash Connections is more than support, it’s a community. We believe recovery is about more than healing the body. It’s about emotional resilience, understanding, and learning how to navigate life after a crash with confidence and support. Whether you are just beginning your recovery or have been on this journey for some time, there is value in connecting with others who truly understand. If you or someone you know is recovering from a motor vehicle crash, we warmly invite you to join our next session. Together, we can share experiences, find encouragement, and move forward knowing you are not alone.
