At the Crash Support Network, one of the most meaningful parts of what we do is continuing to follow the journeys of survivors long after the initial aftermath of a crash. Lisa Mary is one of those survivors. We have had the privilege of watching Lisa continue to pursue something that has always been a huge part of who she is. Her love of music and performing. We have followed along as she has gotten back out there, entertaining audiences, singing, performing, and continuing to build the life she dreamed of. And now, we have another incredible milestone to celebrate.
Lisa has been named Female Modern Country Vocalist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards!
What makes this moment particularly special is that Lisa wasn’t simply accepting an award. She was standing in the Grand Ole Opry circle. A place filled with history and meaning for country music lovers and using that moment to honour her Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle. Lisa shared that she had always imagined having more time with them. They spent countless hours supporting her music, driving her to studio sessions, attending her shows, and being there for band practices. Her words about that moment were incredibly moving.
For Lisa, the award wasn’t really about the award. It was about the people who helped her get there. And we couldn’t be prouder of her. As a crash survivor, Lisa knows firsthand that life can change in ways you never expected. Recovery isn’t always a straight line, and rebuilding your life can take time. But Lisa continues to remind us that recovery is also about finding your way back to the things that make you feel like you. For Lisa, that has been music.
We have loved watching her step back into the spotlight, continue entertaining, and share her incredible voice with audiences. Now, seeing her receive this recognition is a wonderful reminder of just how far she has come. Lisa, we are incredibly proud of you. Your journey is a beautiful example of perseverance, passion, and continuing to pursue your dreams. Keep singing, entertaining and doing what you love. And keep showing the world that being a crash survivor is only one part of your story.
Congratulations, Lisa, on being named Female Modern Country Vocalist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards. What an incredible accomplishment!
Her Story is a Powerful Reminder of Resilience
When Lisa first shared her story with us, she was in the depths of an incredibly difficult chapter of recovery. After her motor vehicle crash, simple everyday tasks became enormous challenges. She struggled with a shoulder and head injury, needed help around the clock, and described feeling disconnected from herself and from the life she once knew. Music had always been such an important part of her identity, yet she was forced to cancel shows as well as projects. She spent countless hours in doctors’ offices and physical therapy. She told us, “I was no longer Lisa the person, I was Lisa the patient.” But recovery is not always a straight line and Lisa’s story didn’t end there.
Today, we continue to watch with pride as Lisa finds her way back to the things that make her Lisa. She is singing, performing, entertaining, and stepping outside her comfort zone in ways that once may have felt impossible. Most recently, she shared how emotional and overwhelming it was to stand in front of a crowd and give a speech. Something that took tremendous courage. From feeling like her life had abruptly stopped… to standing up, sharing her voice, and continuing to pursue the things she loves. This is recovery. This is resilience and this is Lisa.
Her Story is One of Resilience
We are incredibly proud of how far Lisa has come, and grateful that she continues to let us be part of her journey. Her story is a powerful reminder that while a motor vehicle crash can change your life in an instant, it does not have to define the rest of your story. Keep going Lisa. We’re cheering you on every step of the way! Want to know more about where Lisa’s journey began and how far she has come? Read more of her story here.
